A mothers instinct.

Tonight Momma and I attended a foster care training and left little man Jonah with our case manager in another room. This was Mommas 1st time to be away from him for more than 30 minutes so it was a new experience. About a half hour into the training Momma whispered, "do you here Jonah crying?" I thought she was crazy b/c Jonah or any other child wasn't close enough to be heard. I figured this might be a maternal instinct but more likely to be anxiety. She thought she was crazy and I confirmed it with my facial expressions when she asked if she should go check on him. I assured her if something was wrong Cheryl would come and get her. Sure enough, within 5 minutes Cheryl was in the doorway motioning for Rebekah. Nothing was seriously wrong, had had just been crying and wanted to be fed. Mommas motherly instinct had kicked in and they were telling her to care for her son. We shut her thoughts down and dismissed them as crazy. Now I begin to wonder if we do the same thing when our instincts are inclined to obey our Father, but we "logically" shut those thoughts out as crazy. If that's the case, I'm ready to be crazy and follow God given instincts as opposed to the logic of the world. Last Wednesday after a campfire prayer session with the men of the Holler my instincts told me to have us sing "Jesus loves Me" like Don Coffee does at the men prayer breakfast. Awkwardly, I obeyed and 3 grown men sang a children's song into the darkness of the night. Was that the spirit of God or the anti Christ leading us to sing that song? It was awkward and a bit crazy, but we did the right thing. In another instance my instincts told me to tell a complete stranger during small talk that God is what keeps me going. I didn't obey and regret it to this day. Now, was that the Spirit of God prompting me to share my joy or the was it the spirit of the anti Christ? Duh! I challenge us to begin following our God given instincts and live crazy in this world for the sake of its salvation!
